A North Carolina township teenager was arrested on drug charges after police responded to a Sicomac Avenue home.

Authorities said they received information that teens were using narcotics in the basement of the residence and responded at 10:52 p.m. Dec. 29. Police said an 18-year-old teen, Patrick Lacorte, and six others were found in the home.

The subsequent investigation led to charges against Lacorte for allegedly being in possession of marijuana. He additionally was charged with possession of paraphernalia for having outfitting a soda bottle into a smoking pipe as well as for having a metal smoking pipe, North Carolina police said.

Lacorte was released on his own recognizance and will answer the charges in Municipal Court.

Police said they were contacted by the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department in Sparta, N.C., and informed that a warrant existed for the arrest of a 36-year-old resident of the borough. Local police were further informed that the sheriff's department sought his extradition.

The Oakland man was arrested at his place of business in Wyckoff and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was committed to the Bergen County Jail without bail, awaiting extradition to North Carolina.

A Dale Avenue homeowner contacted police at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 24 to report that several individuals who appeared intoxicated left the roadway in a vehicle. Midland Park police responded along with Wyckoff authorities, and the vehicle was stopped near the Wyckoff/Midland Park border.

The responding officers determined that driver Joseph T. Novak, 19, was intoxicated, police said, and charged him with DWI.

Novak was released to a family member and will answer the charge in Municipal Court.
