A North Carolina man stopped by authorities for speeding through St. Martin Parish was arrested for having nearly 200 pounds of marijuana in his car, state police said Friday.
Rodrigo Velasquez, 25, of Salemburg, N.C., was stopped on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge on Tuesday for driving 84 mph on I-10, 24 mph over the speed limit, police said.

Troopers said talking with Velasquez led to searching his 2003 Mazda Protege. That's when they found four duffels bags filled with 192 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, police said.
